Surprise Birthday Celebration @ Swensens! ^^

It was my birthday last week but I still went to work. I was in half a holiday mood :P A few colleagues, including those who I don't know too well, wished me happy birthday in the office, which really brightened my day. Routinely, we went for lunch at 1pm at West Mall.

I was expecting a light lunch after the sinful, filling pre-celebration buffet dinner last night. Handmade noodles and minced meat noodles soup were on my mind. On the way up to the foodcourt, my lunch buddies simply walked into Swensen's and being slightly slow, I had to change my cravings and I couldn't think of any. Once we were seated, I thought to myself if this could be a surprise birthday lunch. Oh...it really was. :O

There was a lunch promotion on! :) For any Main course, you get either a free side dish or a free ice cream sundae! I got myself some Chilli Chicken Penne and a classic Firehouse Birthday dessert. My buddies got Prawn Dippers for sides, and it was crispy and yummy!! I shared with my colleagues about the buffet yesterday and we took some photos. It was really enjoyable and I'm grateful and blessed to work with these thoughtful acquaintances.Thank you for making my day, Esther & Evelyn! :)

His.Tori : Korean Japanese Fusion BBQ Buffet

Met up with my buddies a few days ago at Tanjong Pagar after work! I suggested a buffet dinner for my birthday =P and this time it's Korean Fusion BBQ! We checked out His.Tori BBQ Buffet restaurant after a friend's recommendation. It sounds pretty interesting, the usual Korean BBQ buffet with a hint of Japanese style and great value.

Tanjong Pagar is filled with a variety of hang outs, from pubs to pastries and now the whole stretch of Korean restaurants. Plenty of opportunities to try some of them out on our next outing! We passed by Maxwell Food Centre and Fairfield Methodist Church and found the place. It was just directly opposite those 2 buildings across the road! I was a little hungry since I had light lunch just to save some space for the buffet ^_^''

The restaurant is decorated simply and had sufficient fans and air-cons. We were seated at a ventilated area so it didn't smell as terrible as I'd expected. The BBQ Buffet is priced at $22 Nett for adults and $16 Nett for children. Yep, NETT! So if anyone wants to go for a value buffet with decent quality, you could choose His.Tori. The range of meats is simple, Pork, Chicken, Beef, - from marinated to plain. Besides this, you also get fresh vegetable wraps, fruits, onions, radishes etc which the staff always replenish. There's also a corner with rice, noodles, soup and garnishes. The Kimchi was OK but we enjoyed dipping our meats with the brown dressing sauce. Can't remember it's name though >.<

My friends sang me a birthday song which made me feel really blessed but I could feel myself blushing too! After that we started our meals with the marinated pork and chicken. The pork belly (五花肉) is frequently seen in Korean dramas. I wrapped my meats in the vegetable with some kimchi/brown sauce thing spread on, which was was quite tasty. Just remember to separate the raw meats and cooked meats while you're BBQing!

The staff were patient and attentive enough to our needs and changed our foils from time to time. Another important thing : The toilets were really clean!

Overall, this was a cosy experience. Expect to shower and shampoo twice when you get home, as the BBQ smells will stick to your skin and hair.

A busy dizzy day!

I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed today! I went to work with a leaky nose and there were so many things. Told myself it's Monday, gotta warm up to work for the week and the day went gradually better though still busy. I've got so many e-mails and paperwork despite clearing them everyday. I wished my colleague would help out more.

The addition of Visa application, appointments and stuffs brought more weight on me but I'm so glad and relieved I got it cleared up. A mix of excitement, nerves and anxiety towards studying in another country.

I went to Bukit Panjang Plaza today (again...one of my likeable haunts)~ to DAISO! The $2 Japanese store! A really smart marketing concept! Everything looks pretty and nice for just $2! After shopping for a while, you'll find that some of the items sold are really worth the $2 while some others are actually more expensive than shops outside. Give and take... I guess. :)

Got myself some stationery and cute notebooks. I like the elements of kawaii, humour and nice all packaged in some items, like the King Eraser, candy coloured, classic, lotsa different pens, fancy laced notebooks and classic leather notebooks. Stopped at the Craft section, stocked with Origami books and papers, behind the Recipe books Section and looked at Origami for Beginners and Sewing for Beginners which reminded me of my days in primary school. I was quite engrossed too.

Sometimes it's just hard to get out of Daiso in half hour for me lol...They also have letter pads which are really fanciful, cute, simple, anything... you just get to choose from quite a variety too.

Lastly, their popular Caramel Corn snack. All shelved and stocked up at the entrance and at the Snacks section. Lotsa sugar and stuff.. but I just couldn't resist the new seasonal, limited edition flavours! Sakura Mochi & Mango Pudding!

I finished the Sakura Mochi packet unknowingly while watching Underworld Evolution at home. It has this mild Sakura scent which is pleasant and just sweet. Oh well, just gotta drink more water and jog a little. =X

My hauls~

華コラ Tsubaki 10,000mg Collagen Drink

Hello everyone! This is my very first blog and post.

Collagen production supposedly decreases at the age of 20. O___O! Not too late to start! ^___^

Most of us in Singapore are exposed to stress and the sunny weather here. Late night revisions, rushing deadlines, staying up watching dramas and lack of sufficient sleep also adds on to faster ageing.

I went to NTUC Unity at Bukit Panjang Plaza today and came across the Hanamai Tsubaki drink by AFC Japan. A product from Japan!!! <3 With 10,000mg of collagen micro-molecules in each bottle, Hyaluronic Acid, Tsubaki Camellia Seed Extract, Star Fruit Leaf Extract, 0g fat and a refreshing Peach Flavour, it seemed really appealing :P

This is the first time I'm taking a collagen drink. They are selling this for a box of 10 bottles $54.90 at Unity pharmacies. That's about $5.50 per bottle. >_<

It tastes peachy and a little sweet when served chilled, but there's a slight fishy aftertaste but it's pretty mild and still acceptable for me. The box states to take a bottle daily before bedtime. I guess our skin rests and recovers itself most efficiently during sleep. Hopefully, I'll start to see visible results in 10 days ^^~
